Who is IDEX Health & Science (IH&S)?

IDEX Health & Science, Life Science Optics – based in Rochester, New York –IDEX Health & Science’s line of products is comprised of a Light Sources Group and an Optical Systems Group. The Light Sources Group manufactures a variety of visible, low to moderate power lasers and laser-based systems uniquely designed for consistent performance. The Light Sources Group offers three basic types of lasers: gas (helium-neon and ion lasers), diode-pumped solid-state (DPSS) lasers, and semiconductor diode laser assemblies. The Optical Systems Group provides the design, prototype and low to mid volume manufacturing of custom lens assemblies and optical systems. The Optical Systems Group also specializes in the design of reliable shutter mechanisms and assemblies.

SCOPE OF ROLE:

Semrock is part of Idex Corporation and leader in optical filter development and manufacturing for life science-based applications. The Associate Product Manager will have a key role in maintaining this business and technological leadership. The Associate Product Manager helps define and implement the product line strategy to sustain and accelerate the profitable growth of the Semrock-brand optical filter product line. This position is also responsible for the catalog product portfolio under the supervision of the Senior Manager of Product Management. The Associate Product Manager will support the entire product life cycle and connect this to life science instrument market needs by conducting voice of customer interviews and web-based market research and reviewing market research. The Associate Product Manager helps strengthen and shape the product brand by maintaining product-related data and through product positioning efforts.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Support product life cycle management of Semrock-brand catalog filters, including introduction of new products along with product line rationalization.

  • Contribute to 80/20 complexity reduction across designated product lines to optimize catalog offering.

  • Assist with new product development activities including, definition and documentation of product specifications, web upload and enrichment, marketing collateral and sales training.

  • Respond to product and portfolio questions from internal customers in support of the product line.

  • Support competitive benchmarking and market share/trend analysis of product breadth and price.

  • Develop market insights through voice of customer research, building and maintaining connections to key opinion leaders.

  • Continuously improve and document key product management processes including product discontinuation, new product introduction and part cross referencing.

  • Enhance our website tools and capabilities

  • Assist in the maintenance of product data

  • Daily interaction with internal teams to provide internal support

  • Assist in setting up the pricing strategy

  • Define catalog product specifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in supporting the development or commercialization of products that serve end users and OEM partners in the life sciences and in-vitro diagnostics end market is a plus.

  • New Product Development experience from VOC and through product launch to meet business case

  • Strong knowledge of optical components (filters and/or lenses) and optical systems that can be applied to create a compelling product roadmap that inspires the organization to execute.

  • Customer facing experience, communication, and presentation skills.

  • Typically requires a minimum of 3 or more years of related experience such as technical sales, field application support, product management or R&D.

  • Requires a Bachelor’s degree. An advanced degree (MBA or technical) is a plus.

  • Willing to travel approximately 30% of time.
