REPORTING TO: Technical Sales Manager

LOCATION: West Henrietta, NY


These positions may require lawful access to ITAR/EAR controlled information and employees in this role will need to meet those requirements. Requirements include US Citizenship or US Permanent Resident.

The Senior Technical Sales Engineer plays a critical role in supporting top customers and growing focused accounts for the Semrock brand optical filters product line. This individual will provide technical support and strategic pricing to OEM and distribution. In addition, they will be the main point of contact for the entire sales cycle on targeted accounts. The Senior Technical Sales Engineer will leverage their knowledge to recommend solutions using existing product or new custom designs. They will need to build strong internal and external relationships in order to be successful in this position. Success in this position will be measured by timely and thorough technical pre-sales support of OEM and Distribution customers, as well as rapid, helpful responses to customer technical questions and requests


  • Directly engage targeted growth OEM accounts in specified applications or regions providing full sales cycle support (qualification, design, price, quote, and after-sale support)

  • Understand and influence the optical filter selection or design specifications of our OEM customers and international distributors to optimize performance and manufacturability

  • Provide technical and pricing support to commercial sales team to achieve growth targets with major OEM or Distribution accounts

  • Leverage and enhance product pricing strategies in sales quotations to maximize contribution margin dollars


  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant engineering or science field; formal optics training preferred but not required

  • Minimum 2 years’ work experience in a manufacturing or corporate setting

  • Knowledge of the use of various optical detection methods

  • Understanding of fluorescence, Raman scattering, chemiluminescence, absorbance, transmission, optical systems, light sources, and optical detectors

  • Previous sales experience is preferred but not required

  • Strong computer proficiency is a must with an emphasis on MS-Office applications


  • Excellent interpersonal skills; ability to build and foster strong technical relationships with customers and external Sales partners

  • Analytical thinker with ability to solve problems quickly and accurately to meet customer deadlines

  • Organized, detail-oriented

  • Highly motivated self-starter with a strong drive for results mindset

  • Comfortable in a fast-paced “startup” environment with the ability to navigate across multiple internal cross-functional teams to deliver results to the customer to schedule

  • Ability to focus and prioritize workload to achieve the strategic goals of the business

  • This is a site-based role at our West Henrietta, NY facility

  • Occasional travel may be required
